About Us

Mission for Anath Development & Welfare Society was founded and established in2001-2002 by Rev. R Stephen Diyali in collaboration with other like- minded group of people who were committed to alleviate the pain, suffering and rejection of women, children and people from the lower castes, many of whom are left homeless and deprived of food and care. The word “Anath” (means orphan those who have no parents) has been added to the name of the Society. Migrants from higher altitudes of Uttarkashi Himalayas, pockets of other northern states were employed with Border Road Organization, Tehri Dam project and other Government Units of Uttarkashi. The parents used to leave their children near the roads, fields or alone in homes, hospitals, temples and other public places. The plight of these children deeply disturbed the soul and mind of the founder, Rev. R Stephen Diyali. So much so that it led him to commit his life for the service of those underprivileged children and communities. Since then the organization has been serving and providing various type of help, support and opportunities for their betterment in life with charitable formal & non-formal education, medical and first aid facilities, employment in the school and organizational activities.

Mission for Anath Development & Welfare Society is a non-profit, non-political humanitarian organization working to create lasting changes in the lives of children, their families and communities living in poverty regardless of religion, caste, race, ethnicity or gender. The Society is registered under Societies Registration Act, 1860. The founder, Rev.R. Stephen Diyali, has been working as a social worker in the community from a long time as a servant of God. Despite facing challenges and problems from the anti- social elements, he has been continuously working for the community and serving the Lord. He has been generating awareness and working towards community development with the minimum resources since last 17 years. His passion and only mission in life is to liberate children, marginalized people and communities from all kinds of exploitation and develop them as good citizens of the Nation and help them to change and transform their families and communities.

Area of Operation

Society is working in Uttarkashi district in the state of Uttarakhand. We work in Joshiyara village, block- Bhatwari, tahashil -Bhatwari and other six blocks of Uttarkashi district.

Target Population

We work for Garhwali, Nepali, Banjara, Jansari, Himanchali, Muslims and slum communities.

We cater to orphan children, widows, elderly people, persons with disabilities, families affected by floods and earthquakes and also poor and needy people in the community

Main Objectives

The main objectives of the organization are conducting the following welfare activities-

1. "To manage Academic Education Center named "Sahara Christian Academy"
2. To implement Household Sanitation Project for Open Defecation Free under SBM
3. To undertake Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation Response
4. To conduct Child Development and Adult Literacy Programmes
5. To facilitate Formation of Self Help Groups and to impart Training Program on Livelihood
6. To implement Uttarkashi Sanitation Awareness Program (BCC)
7. To undertake Social Welfare and Holistic Development Activities for Community Development
